H&M 20th Anniversary
H&M collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld 20 years ago. That collection marked the first time the brand collaborated with a designer. For 2004, it was revolutionary. Since then, H&M has produced collections with a number of luxury designers. In fact, Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney are on that list.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the brand is releasing collections of vintage, pre-loved pieces. The collections include many designer labels like Jimmy Choo, Versace, Alexander Wang, and more. Clearly, this event shows the brand’s appreciation and love for its designer collaborators.
Fall/Winter 2024 Collection
The brand’s most recent collection, shown above, included neutral colors. H&M designed the pieces for business and formal occasions. In addition, sweaters, tailored jackets, and pleated skirts are popular this season. As shown on fashion influencer, Shanel, the pieces match current trends. The brand focuses on the modern customer’s style wants. Additionally, H&M’s staples fall into categories, and their business-themed pieces are quite popular year after year.
The anniversary releases, in comparison to the brand’s normal drops, will include pre-loved designer pieces. There will be eight different drops. In person, there will be seven global stores that release one collection. For example, Spain, Sweden, and Germany are a few of the countries included. Regarding the United States, New York is the place to shop in person. Specifically, on the 27th of October, an H&M store in the Soho neighborhood will release one of the collections. For online shoppers, the items will be available on the brand’s website starting October 31st.
Vintage and More
Vintage and H&M lovers alike will want a piece of this collection. Therefore, the H&M site will be flooded and these vintage finds will be gone. A collaboration between brands isn’t uncommon. However, this is the 20th anniversary of an impactful moment in fashion. The demand for these pieces is rising. Plus, the brand is still posting on social media to create even more buzz.
One for the Ages
Ultimately, these releases are a love letter from H&M to their designer collaborators and their customers. Every piece, ranging from 2004 to 2023, represents a connection the brand has with Marni, Moschino, or another luxury label. Though H&M is best known as an online retailer, this anniversary event proves it is more than that. It’s a brand with a history, a knowledge of trends, and a love for fashion.
