Four New Designers to Look Out For

As we are almost halfway through 2021, we have seen a remarkable amount of incredible new designers emerge. Here is a list of the ten designers to look for the rest of this year.

Kenneth Ize

The Nigerian-based designer founded his collection in 2013 by using local Nigerian designs and products. One standout piece is his use of woven cloth called Aso Oko. Ize was a finalist for the LVMH prize in 2019 and Naomi Campbell walked the runway as the final look of his fall 2020 collection.

Chopova Lowena

Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena created their company after meeting in school. Based in London and Bulgaria the duo uses vintage fabric from Bulgaria. The pleated patchwork skirts are one to take note of.

Thebe Magugu

Magugu, from South Africa, was the first African designer to take home the coveted LVMH Prize. His designs are a celebration of his country’s heritage. Producing his designs from Johannesburg he creates an annual   zine dedicated to ideas and people from South Africa.

Peter Do

Founded in 2018, the designing group is lead by Vietnamese designer Peter Do. They don’t follow traditional industry rules and show what they want when they want. Do’s background is working at Celine under Phoebe Philo which is evident from the clean and minimal looks. The designers can be seen on celebs like Zendaya and Solange.
