The rise of the metaverse and increasing curiosity with NFTs is changing many industries as we know it. Fashion has made its way to the metaverse from New York Fashion Week and Digital Fashion Week. NFTs and metaverse models have also taken over many brands and collections recently where ready-to-wear garments are available for purchase and trade as digital tokens.

John Richmond x Shib, the name of the collection’s partnership, will include 10,000 NFTs. The brand hasn’t determined how the collection will be marketed as of yet but is sure that it will be a “unique” experience for audiences. Following suit of other brands experimenting with the metaverse, John Richmond is bursting the envelope with 10,000 counterparts. Physical equivalents of the NFTs are going to be presented on the runway in Milan in September for Fashion Week.

It will be interesting to see the debut of the collection and how these particular NFTs and counterparts are going to look for an audience that is starting to emerge from virtual life of the pandemic. The show’s working title is ‘Legends Live Forever’ as a hint towards the see now, buy now nature of the collection and how its NFT counterparts will ultimately live forever through e-commerce.
