Christian Siriano FW23 Channels Audrey Hepburn

Designer Christian Siriano presented their Fall/Winter 2023 collection at Gotham Hall in New York. “Audrey Hepburn’s rose garden at midnight” is the theme of the show, exhibited by pops of florals and a runway lined with roses.

The Collection

The show opens with a metallic rose motif on as seen through blazers and gowns. The theme persists from start to finish, with models wearing saucer hats reminiscent of Hepburn. Florals prevail throughout the collection, whether through a motif or with large roses elegantly sewn into the clothing. Ruffles are another recurring theme, which Siriano demonstrates through gorgeous gowns and mini-dresses.

Christian Siriano x Rakuten

Siriano recently collaborated with Rakuten for their Superbowl campaign, where the designer reimagined the plaid yellow suit worn by actress Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz in Clueless. Pink versions of the suit were brought onto the runway and were reworked into cocktail dresses. Siriano hosted a giveaway for Rakuten members, who could enter to win the yellow suit along with three other Clueless-inspired looks from the runway.

Celebrity Guests

In the audience was actress Lindsey Lohan, while her siblings, Aliana and Dakota Lohan, walked the runway. Aliana walked the runway in a black mini-dress lined with extravagant ruffles, while Dakota strutted in a black brocade gown. Also in attendance were actresses Julia Stiles and Greta Onieogou, as well as comedian Quinta Brunson.

About The Designer

Christian Siriano got his start after winning the 4th season of Project Runway in 2007, becoming the youngest winner of the show. He then went on to launch his first collection in 2008, after studying under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Siriano has since dressed figures from First Lady Kamala Harris and former First Lady Michelle Obama to Oprah, Zendaya, and Lady Gaga. During the height of the pandemic, Siriano reassigned his team to design medical masks to be shipped to frontline workers in New York, and was eventually awarded $6.9 million by the government to do so.
