Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY: AW25 Collection at PFW
I Am A Product: A Bold Showcase of Queer Defiance and Creativity
On January 25, 2025, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY unveiled its highly anticipated Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, titled “I Am A Product, at Dover Street Market Paris during Paris Fashion Week. This groundbreaking presentation was far more than a fashion show— it was an immersive experience blending performance, music, and fashion in a celebration of queer resilience and individuality.
A Message of Defiance and Joy
At the heart of the I Am A Product collection lies an exploration of the tension between playfulness and existential gloom” a hallmark of countercultural movements throughout history. The showcase addressed societal anxieties about time, change, and identity, emphasizing defiance in the face of conformity.
This event is an act of resistance and joy, C. Jeffrey shared, celebrating queer creativity, resilience, and bravery amid anti-queer hostility worldwide.
A Collaborative Spectacle
The evening featured performances by visionary artists such as BULLYACHE, Queenie Sateen, and Natassia Dreams, transforming the venue into a 360-degree stage resembling a wrestling arena. The performance blended homoeroticism with spiritual struggle, presenting the AW25 collection as part of a visceral narrative that pushed boundaries.
The collection played with the constructs of English respectability, showcasing pieces ranging from crocheted Mallard-shaped bags to slashed, multicolored knits, and exaggerated forms. Drawing inspiration from the Victorian fin de siècle and Weimar Berlin cabarets, the designs highlighted how past generations turned to decadence and artistry to cope with societal and personal struggles.
A Partnership with Pornhub
One of the standout elements of the presentation was LOVERBOY’s collaboration with Pornhub. This partnership aimed to amplify diverse voices, particularly within non-binary, gender-fluid, and trans communities. Together, they showcased wearable pieces and statement looks inspired by themes of empowerment, liberation, and the male gaze.
Pornhub ambassadors Queenie Sateen and Natassia Dreams took center stage, adorned in hand-crafted crochet gowns that embodied the artisanal ethos of LOVERBOY.
Hair, Makeup, and Queer Inspiration
The beauty looks for the show drew from the post-punk and no-wave movements of the late 1970s and early 1980s, channeling icons like Grace Jones, Divine, and Crystal LaBeija. From subdued film-inspired aesthetics to bold, unapologetically queer expressions, the styling captured the spectrum of queer creativity and individuality.
Charles Jeffrey on ‘I Am A Product’
For his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week, Charles Jeffrey embraced a new approach, crafting the collection directly from his sketches and emotions rather than traditional research. Reflecting on the theme of being a ” product in an increasingly commodified industry, Jeffrey acknowledged the fleeting nature of fashion while celebrating its power as a storytelling medium.
“In a world of divided opinions and rising populism, particularly against the LGBTQ+ community, it’s impossible to ignore the political context we exist in,†Jeffrey stated. “This collection is about balancing the commercial with the artistic, exploring the duality of creativity and resistance.â€
A New Chapter for LOVERBOY
As LOVERBOY continues to grow, the brand remains committed to its radical roots, drawing inspiration from art, music, and unconventional sources of queer joy. With its AW25 collection, Charles Jeffrey has once again reaffirmed LOVERBOY’s place as a cultural force ” one that blends artistry and activism to create a space for radical expression and inclusivity.
