Blumarine Scary & Sexy Mermaid SS 23 Campaign
An ethereal and dreamy Blumarine Spring/Summer 2023 campaign takes inspiration from the mermaid figure by creating gothic yet alluring looks. Blumarine brings fashion to the mystical underworld. The campaign video starts with a cold scheme of colors, washing ashore intermixing with the aquatic fantasy. Next, a stream of fires are lit in the name of the designer. The setting is inside a small cottage house located by the ocean. To illustrate the eerie and mystique setting, the blinds are blowing in the wind. Then, the camera cuts to the models who are drifting along in the water in their liquid like couture. Furthermore, coating their bodies in mermaid glamour. This liquid-like fashion cascades down their bodies and into their figures to the tails of the exotic creature. Creating a dimension of length and texture, using waves of ruffles and ruching to create such effects.

The mystical and dreamlike Blumarine collection emphasizes the tail in the background of the campaign that later becomes symbolic of the model’s legs. The delicate details of diamonds that glitter among the designer accessories combine a sense of glitz and grunge. Further, the designer utilizes different symbols in accents of roses and bows to express femininity and eternal beauty in each of the designs. In fact, the motif of crosses are seen across different sheer tops, necklaces, belts, and chokers throughout the video accenting the mermaid core aesthetic. Equally important, the fabrics range from a rough denim to a soft baby blue sheer. The designs drape over the models building an edgier take of your childhood mermaid. The surreal underworld takes a darker perspective and gives the mermaid a new edge.
