Avon Dorsey in 2020
Since we last wrote about Avon Dorsey in 2018, the fashion editor, celebrity stylist, and all-around creative consultant has returned to his roots, transitioning from his role as Contributing Fashion Editor of Essence Magazine to working freelance.
When he first started out in the industry, Dorsey did freelance work for Glamour, InStyle, and Marie Claire that helped him build up the diverse, well-known list of brand alliances and celebrity clients he has today. These brand alliances include Moschino, Balenciaga, Fendi, and Givenchy, among many others, and his clients include Quincy Brown, Rae Sremmurd, and others.
Returning to freelance with those partnerships in place will allow Dorsey to extend his reach still further. It is likely that we will continue to see his influence in styling and fashion editing grow, especially with the recent creation of the Black in Fashion Council, an initiative committed to elevating and supporting Black voices in the fashion world that have been underrepresented and under-celebrated for far too long.
