Preview: ‘The Devil All The Time’ Starring Tom Holland Will Premiere on Netflix Sept. 16

Netflix has a new movie coming out this Sept. 16 called The Devil All The Time, starring Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Sebastian Stan and more. The first trailer for The Devil All The Time dropped last week.

Instead of seeing Holland as the famous web-slinger we all know and love, in this film it seems Holland opts for a more country-boy and humble character. With a southern drawl and hesitant smile, the character Arvin already comes off as a protagonist we may root for the entirety of the film.

The movie is based off an American psychological thriller novel of the same name by Donald Ray Pollack.

From IMDB, here’s the synopsis:

“Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his “prayer log.” There’s Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America’s highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There’s the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte’s orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right.”

Along with Holland, Robert Pattinson stars in the film as the sinister priest, Reverend Preston Teagardin. Sebastian Stan plays the drunk cop, Sheriff Lee Bodecker. Bill Skarsgard is also in the film as Willard Russell and his wife, Charlotte Russell, is played by Haley Bennett. Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, Riley Keough, Eliza Scanlen and Jason Clarke are also in The Devil All The Time.

Evil priests, haunted towns and people with a personal vendetta, starring Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson? Sounds like the perfect psychological thriller to transition us into fall and the upcoming spooky season.

Produced by Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Antonio Campos (Simon Killer, Afterschool) The Devil All The Time will premiere and stream on Netflix on Sept. 16.
