Jay Z & Pharrell’s Drops New Single ‘Entrepreneur’

Jay Z and Pharrell’s new single ‘Entrepreneur’ chronicles the achievements of Black entrepreneurs today.

Pharrel told TIME magazine the song illustrates “how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country. Especially as someone of color, there’s a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages. How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire, when you’re starting at disadvantages with regards to health care, education, and representation?”

Amid the 2020 protest, the narrative of the song lends to Black resilience and ownership. Jay-Z’s line: “There will be no sunny days / If Black went away” is the perfect line, to sum up, the song. Black entrepreneurship is apart of Black resistance.
