Ivana Trump dies at 73
Ivana Trump, former President Donald Trump’s first wife, died Thursday, July 14, afternoon. The former model was the mother of Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. Ivana was 73 years old when she died in her New York home on the Upper East Side.
The ABC7 news station in New York reported that police were called to her home to help a person who was in cardiac arrest. Authorities do not suspect foul play and conclude she died of natural causes. The former president released a statement on Truth Social, a social media platform owned by Trump Media and Technology Group, to inform of her passing.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”, Trump said.
As a little girl in what was then called Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia she learned how to ski. Her father recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue it further. She later joined the junior national ski team, and went to Charles University to continue her ski career.
After she became a professional skier and ski instructor she decided to go into the modeling industry. Ivana modeled for stores, designers, and for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Then she met her now ex-husband, former president Donald Trump when she was in New York City with other models. They got married a year later and became public figures in the press. The tabloids covered their marriage more than Gossip Girl wrote about the Upper East siders.
While married to Trump she took on a variety of significant roles in the Trump organization. Ivana worked as the executive vice president for interior design and later became the CEO and president of the Trump Castle Hotel and Casino in Atlantic city. She also managed the Plaza hotel in Manhattan. She went on to hold the titles of media personality, fashion designer, and author. Ivana was known as a woman that embodied elegance, sophistication, and a business go-getter.
