James Charles Threatens Legal Action After Cutting Ties with Morphe

If you’ve been following beauty guru gossip, then you’re well aware of James Charles’ recent escapades.

Friday, in separate statements released on Twitter, both Charles and Morphe announced that they would be “winding down” sales of their uber successful collaboration online and in-stores. They first began their business relationship in 2018, with the release of the James Charles palette which is still available for purchase at the time of writing.

This comes after Charles admitted to having sexual conversations with minors on Snapchat earlier this month. The video rubbed critics of the beauty guru the wrong way, seeing that his careful wording gave leeway for his young fans to excuse his actions.

“I need to take accountability for my actions and most importantly apologize to the people who were hurt by them,” he said in the video. “As an adult, it is my job and my responsibility to verify who I’m talking to and therefore there is nobody to blame for this other than myself.”

In his Twitter statement, Charles has “threatened legal action” against the people who’ve accused him of sexual misconduct. Although many of the social media users have proof of their explicit conversations with the influencer, some claims have been misleading or false.

This isn’t the only venture which James Charles has decided end. A few days ago, it was announced that Zach Hsieh (known as ZHC) will be replacing James as the host of YouTube’s popular competition Instant Influencer – though YouTube denied Variety‘s request for comment behind the decision. “We thank James for a great first season, and look forward to building on the show’s success by expanding the opportunity to showcase a diversity of creators across the YouTube platform in our upcoming season,” a spokesperson told the publication.
