PichiAvo Brings Mythology to the Streets with First Mural in Athens

ATHENS, Greece, April 24, 2026

In a city where mythology is not just history but identity, internationally acclaimed Spanish duo PichiAvo has made a striking debut with their first professional mural in Greece. Titled An Offering to Athens, the large-scale work now lives at 28–30 Pallados Street, just steps from the Acropolis, positioning itself as both tribute and transformation within the city’s evolving cultural landscape.

A Modern Offering Rooted in Myth

At the center of the mural stands Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, depicted through PichiAvo’s signature fusion of classical sculpture and graffiti. Referencing the mythological moment when Athena gifted the olive tree to the city, symbolizing peace and prosperity, the mural reframes that origin story into a contemporary visual language.

Rather than simply revisiting history, the artists reimagine it, creating a dialogue between ancient mythology and present-day urban culture. The result feels less like a reinterpretation and more like a continuation.

A Full-Circle Moment

For PichiAvo, comprised of Spanish artists Juan Antonio “Pichi” and Álvaro “Avo”-this project marks a significant milestone. Their work has long drawn from Greek mythology, classical art, and architecture, making Athens not just another location, but a deeply personal destination.

“Bringing our work to Athens feels like completing a circle,” the duo shared. “Greek culture has always been at the core of what we do—this mural is our way of giving something back.”

Scale, Time, and Collaboration

While the mural reads as effortless in its execution, the reality behind it tells a different story. Developed over more than two years, An Offering to Athens reflects both the scale and complexity of the undertaking.

Though self-initiated and self-funded at its core, the project was ultimately realized through the support of institutional partners, private patrons, and collaborators, underscoring the collective effort required to bring such an ambitious vision to life.

A New Landmark in Psirri

Set within Athens’ vibrant Psirri neighborhood, the mural is poised to become a defining visual landmark. Known for its dynamic street art scene, Psirri continues to evolve as a space where history and contemporary creativity intersect, and PichiAvo’s latest work fits seamlessly into that narrative.

More than just a mural, An Offering to Athens operates as a cultural bridge—linking past and present, mythology and modernity, tradition and rebellion.

About PichiAvo

PichiAvo, the artistic duo of Juan Antonio (Pichi) and Álvaro (Avo), emerged from Valencia’s graffiti scene before establishing themselves on the global stage. Known for their distinct blend of classical imagery and urban expression, their work spans painting, sculpture, and monumental public installations.

Since their international debut at the North West Walls Festival in 2015, they have completed major projects across the world—from Wynwood Walls in Miami to the Houston–Bowery Wall in New York. Their practice continues to challenge the boundaries between street art and fine art, creating a visual language that is both timeless and unmistakably contemporary.

The Takeaway

With An Offering to Athens, PichiAvo does more than leave a mark; they enter into conversation with one of the most historically rich cities in the world. And in doing so, they remind us that even the oldest stories can still be rewritten,if you know how to see them differently.
