Up and coming artist Norf Sole Releases his latest single “Ancient Change”
Norf Sole comes from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Home of numerous talented artist, but very underrated. Norf stated “I have some songs and a few videos out right now. I’m just taking baby steps to become the artist I want to be, and I know that takes time. My goal is to make my art inspirational and for my music to gain the respect that I believe it deserves. I dropped a project in December of 2020 titled “The World is the Ghetto”. That was a big eye opener to really understand the game a bit more. In my head it was a lesson, it showed me how to do things and not to rush anything and move at your own pace. Once I started doing that my music have been going crazy.”
The song is called Ancient Change. The video was shot by Nicky G. of Indigo Bear Films and was directed by the both of them. The goal of the video was to draw questions to it. Norf wanted people to desire a better understanding of the theme and messages. The main messages were to not conform to societies standards, and to not fall into the pressure of your environment. The people in the masks are who I’d call “society” and your environment. In the second scene, you see behind Norf, on his right side, innocent kids who are as they come, and to his left side you see the gamblers (people who are a part of the environment) and that basically details how those kids could turn out if pressured into that lifestyle.
The next scene is the high angled scene when he is circled by people. That scene symbolizes Norf defeating society (as he stands up and they fall down) and becoming who he is supposed to be.
This video was very important of him to film because at this time in his journey, you get so blinded by what you could be and who you could be if you would change yourself. That could be positive and a lot of times negative because you then begin to compare yourself. Norf said hes compared himself millions of times and its normal to do so, but also unhealthy. So he wanted to basically say “look…this is who I am. I’d rather you hate me for who I am, than to love me for who I’m not”. And that’s one of the hardest things to say because you want to get the light but is it really worth losing or masking your identity?
