Trapland Pat is a “Hood Star”

Trapland Pat is a “Hood Star”

Trapland Pat emerged from Broward County with a big dream and talent to match. Chronicling his rise from the bottom to his current status, the Deerfield Beach native drops Hood Star,” his brand new video. Produced by Pat’s longtime running mate PepperJack Zoe, “Hood Star” is a breezy and propulsive banger, mixing a soothing electric piano chord progression with percussion perfectly suited to a top down drive. Going toe-to-toe with fellow Florida rapper Lil Toe, Trapland Pat skates atop the instrumental with aplomb, doling out street lessons in elongated phrases: “Heard the plug got flavors, gambling with your life, that’s a pretty small wager/Blowin’ up my phone, you gotta hit me on the pager/You ain’t met a n**** like me cause we endangered,” spits Pat. In the video, Pat and Lil Toe take a trip to Cali, as the Packwoods jersey-clad Broward denizen and the ska masked Palm Beach native bring a Sunshine State attitude to the West Coast.

“Hood Star” is the latest release from Professor Trap, Trapland Pat’s new mixtape. Featuring varied and tuneful production from his running mate PepperJack Zoe, along with other Florida sound architects like 2Side and Dom2groovyProfessor Trap deepens Pat’s tropical mythology, as the artist embraces his region’s signature sound and makes them his own. The 24-year-old rapper asserts himself as a major player in his home state’s scene, recruiting rising and veteran Florida stars to spar: Luh Tyler‘s laid back rasp meshes perfectly with Pat’s easygoing croon on “Backstreet,” while The Boss himself, Rick Ross, shows up to bless Pat’s “Big Business (Remix).” Featuring additional appearances from Tee Grizzley (on lead single “Spoof”), Big YavoGTLoe ShimmyLil Toe, and C StunnaProfessor Trap is available everywhere via Bang Biz/Alamo Records.

“Hood Star” arrives as Trapland Pat prepares to join Luh Tyler on his “My Vision Tour,” along with their fellow Florida scenester Loe Shimmy. The tour kicked off earlier this week with a sold out show at The Echo in Los Angeles, and continues with stops in Dallas, Atlanta, and several Florida cities, culminating in Rolling Loud Miami in July.

Professor Trap is the anticipated follow-up to Trapnificent, Pat’s acclaimed 2022 mixtape. Pat’s first release for Bang Biz and Alamo RecordsTrapnificent earned praise from Pitchfork, who called the project a “zippy distillation of his regional roots” and said that Pat’s music is “extremely regionally and culturally specific, like so much exciting and promising new rap music.” Trapnificent kept up the momentum from 2021’s Thru The Door, home to “Big Business,” which generated over 10 million streams and earned a spot on Passion Of The Weiss’s list of Best Rap Songs of 2021. Most recently, Pat earned Best Hip-Hop Act 2023 honors from his local South Florida paper, the Miami New Times.

Ready to build on his impressive 2022 and bring his South Florida street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be Broward County’s next big star. Professor Trap completes his evolution from student to master. Stay tuned for much more. Previous coverage here.
