Spill Tab Releases “Assis” Single & Music Video
LA-based French-Korean singer, songwriter, and producer spill tab (aka Claire Chicha) has shared another taste of her debut album with “Assis,” which lands accompanied by a music video directed by Sweetiepie.
A soulful and textured blend of earthy funk grooves, the track is sung in both English and French, her father’s language, seamlessly weaving rich layers of sound and emotion. With production from John Hill (FKA Twigs, Charli XCX) and Solomonophic (SZA, Lola Young, Remi Wolf), “Assis,” further showcases spill tab’s boundless songwriting prowess and sets the tone for what’s to come with her debut album ANGIE.
Speaking about the song, Chicha shares “the production for Assis feels like the stitching between a 50’s Italian film soundtrack and psychedelic rock. The song is about watching someone you love pull away from you in slow motion. You try to reconcile the beautiful, tender moments with the bitter ones, because ultimately you want no one else.”
Set for release May 16 on Because Music, ANGIE’s twelve tracks fizz with enthusiasm, uninhibited creativity, and intricate musicianship. As evinced by her recent singles, the album spans Chicha’s variegated musical interests, joyously veering from the bass-weight and pitched-up vocals of glitchy opener ‘PINK LEMONADE’ to the grungy distortion and sultry French-language lyrics of ‘De Guerre’ to the euphoric guitar solos of the title track.
