Zoe :What made you want to get into the music industry?

Noby :My parents wanted us to be the Jackson 5 when we were younger. They bought us all instruments for Christmas and music has been an integral part of my life every since . When I started releasing the music I used to keep to myself and people started gravitating towards it, it just made sense.

Zoe: Your voice is outstanding! How did you get your start in singing?

Noby :I feel like I never seriously started singing. I feel like everyone else, singing in the car, in the shower, while I’m walking… People just started hyping me up though.

Zoe: You are originally from Alabama how did your home state influence your sound?

Noby: I feel like I’m a slick lyricist. I got bars, lowkey. A lot of that is from listening to artists from Mobile, AL like Rylo, NoCap, Qu1$, and Yung Bleu.

Zoe: Who are some of your biggest influences in the music industry?

Noby: I have so many random influences. Just stuff I grew up listening to, bands like My Chemical Romance or Breaking Benjamin, and a lot of gospel Artists, especially Marvin Sapp. I’ve been listening to a lot of SZA and PND lately too.

Zoe : Your song “Before” is soulful and vulnerable,  a song about forgiveness and patience can you tell us where did the idea for this song came from?

Noby: It came from different life experiences. Just being mature enough to know I have things I need to work on and heal from before I jump into a relationship and hurt someone because I’m not ready.

Zoe: Your debut song “It’s Never That Deep” on Motown records speaks to the contradiction of having high expectations for a lover without being able to fully commit. It encapsulates the realities of an unbalanced love affair that is never fully reciprocated.” Puts a spotlight on modern-day relationships. Why do you feel it’s important that we have music that represents relationships and how they are viewed today?

Noby: I think it’s important to have real music that stems from real relationship experiences because you want people to relate to your music, but also for me, it’s equally important that my music spotlights a willingness to learn from my mistakes and grow so that I can have healthier relationships. That’s the theme of my upcoming album.

Zoe:  Motown Records has a history of bringing some of the biggest stars to the world stage. Stars such as Diana Ross and Supremes, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, and Boyz II Men.  What is it like to be part of such a legendary label?

Noby: I thank God every day for the opportunity and experience. It’s a special feeling. It’s also pressure, because those are huge names to live up to. But I’m here for it.

Zoe: What can we look forward to next from you?

Noby: I have a completed album on the way called “Before Therapy”. It’s about the struggle of navigating through relationships before seeking therapy and healing from past trauma. I definitely want to push the idea of therapy to our community. I think we could all bene
