More In Music Hosts Inaugural Conference
Earlier this month, nonprofit More In Music – dedicated to breaking down barriers in the music industry through education and mentorship – hosted its inaugural More In Music Conference at Cal State Northridge in Los Angeles. Hundreds of aspiring and established professionals gathered for a day of panels, workshops, and networking, covering everything from A&R and artist management to data analytics and breaking into the scene.
Notable speakers inlcuded DJ Hed, artists Fana Hues and Kenyon Dixon, producers Amorphous and Killah B, and execs from Live Nation, Def Jam, Spotify, TikTok, Warner Records, and more. As the sun set, the conference transitioned into the Sound Mind Summit, a free wellness event presented by LA’s Department of Mental Health, featuring a fireside chat with Dr. Carroll Brown and rapper D Smoke, who also was the headlining performance.
What set this conference apart? It was a fully produced by a student Cohort, working alongside industry veterans – giving attendees not just knowledge but real-world experience. A dynamic blend of education, opportunity, and community, the More In Music Conference proved to be an essential resource for the next wave of music industry leaders.
Though the conference has successfully wrapped, More In Music’s mission–to inspire all generations of professional artists, who will help the industry reach a more equitable and ethical future–continues. More In Music is always looking for partners, donors, and volunteers who are passionate about educating others, inspiring the youth, and transforming the culture.
