Jayson Tatum Injury Sparks Bullets In The Wind

Celtics front-man Jayson Tatum suffered what looked to be a really bad injury in the fourth quarter of game four of the Eastern Conference Semis against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. This injury looked to be very serious as the potential face of the NBA was in pain for a good amount of time before being helped off the court and wheeled to the locker room on a wheelchair.

With the Celtics now down 3-1 in the series, the defending champions would have to win three straight games to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. If Tatum isn’t available to go, then the Celtics may be in big trouble and have to rely on Jaylen Brown to be their primary guy down the stretch. No reports yet on what has come from the MRI that is being done Tuesday.

The circumstances that Jayson Tatum and the Celtics are in is a puzzling one, with them being the defending champions and the Knicks not having a win on the Cs the entire regular season. It’s so irregular that It reminds me of the song “Bullets in the Wind” by Mantarabryn.

“Two men on the horizon and they’re both holdin’ a gun

Number two is far more quiet, he’s just as dangerous as number one

They shoot at the same time and they scare each other stiff

And I’m screaming from the sidelines at the bullets in the wind

And they’re both bleeding to the ground, now who do I help first?”

“Bullets in the Wind” is a great representation of the Cs downfall in this series because in the song, the singer just wants to feel pain to feel somewhat alive again. In relation to the Celtics, they had won the championship and throughout the season, many have questioned how serious the Celtics are about the back-to-back championships. With the current series being 3-1 with the Knicks leading, it doesn’t seem like they’re too serious. In game one and two they were leading, but let the Knicks come back in historic fashion.

The door is still open for a Celtics comeback, and they’ve almost done it before in 2023 again the Miami Heat. Can they get the job done possibly without Jayson Tatum?
