Hanna Ögonsten is a Swedish-born artist, with many talents. Between her production skills, releasing syth-ridden alt-pop tracks, she does it all. I had the opportunity to chat with Hanna Ögonsten about her career and music. Not only does she talk about some of her favorite releases, but also an artist she would love to work with in the future. Keep reading to her more about Hanna and her career!

Where are you from?

“I am from Sweden. More specifically a town a little bit outside of Stockholm.”

When did you first get involved in and want to start creating music?

“I grew up in the country side so I first got involved with it because of lack of other things to do. It first started when I began singing and making songs and it developed from there. I started playing guitar at a young age. “

Would you say you know what you want your sound to be?

“Yes, I feel like I found home but as you go you’re constantly developing your sound. But where I am right now, I’ve found home. “

What is the inspiration behind your single “Lost It”?

“This past autumn I felt kind of down going into my 20’s with everything going on in the world.  Between the pandemic, the environment crisis and the world in Ukraine, I felt like a lot of big things have changed for me. That confusion was the inspiration for this track. Feeling like you are missing something but at the same time overthinking. “

What are some struggles you have faced as a musician?

“One struggle is definitely reaching out to people. Especially as an independent artist. Also, the lack of representation of women in the music industry. I am constantly battling, but I can’t do much about it unfortunately other than continuing doing it. “

Do you have a favorite song that you have released?

“Right now, “Lost It” because it’s so new and fresh. Other than that is a track called “Show You” that I released last year. I feel like those two represent the sound that I love. They’ll both be nice to play live. I still have the best part of them left.”

Who is someone you would want to collaborate with?

“I would love to produce or write something with Cashmere Cat. I love his soundscape.”
