Fana Hues Announces New Ablum ‘Moth’ & Single

Today, beloved singer-songwriter and producer Fana Hues announces her third studio album MOTH, out June 14 via Bright Antenna Records. Alongside the announcement comes a brash and bouncy new single and video, “Rental”. Indulgently effervescent and an undeniable summertime bop, “Rental” is a sassy and irreverent ode to distractions and joy rides. Fana’s talent in crafting intoxicating grooves is on full display in its accompanying video (directed by Dana Trippe), where she and her friends take turns twirling and gyrating aboard the same glistening airstream revealed in the video for her first single, “Paper Tigers”—a recurring emblem within the album’s universe. “Rental is a song that explores how giving into a guilty pleasure can be a freeing necessity,” Fana explains.

The final chapter in a trilogy of records showcasing Fana’s pristine execution, lyrically and sonically, MOTH is a vulnerable and arresting portrait of her newfound womanhood executive produced by Hues herself. Working with co-producers like Levan Kali and Josh Grant, MOTH is a collection of 12 tracks that explore a panorama of themes, from lust and love languages to patience and karma. Featuring songs like “Paper Tigers,” a ribboning and pristine track stuffed with psychedelic guitars and boundless vocals, MOTH acted as a sonic cocoon for Fana that provided her both a cathartic escape and an auditory sense of healing. Moths fly through darkness constantly searching for light even at the risk of harm. I’m always en route on a journey to find the reason for a feeling in its purest form, even if it hurts,” she says about the album. Pre-save HERE.

MOTH is the first release since Fana’s critically acclaimed 2022 album flora + fana, an exquisite meditation on self-love heralded by NPRVogueComplexThe GuardianBillboardVIBE, and more. Since releasing her debut album, Hues, in 2020, Fana has steadily risen through the ranks of R&B as a promising singer and songwriter, earning a prominent feature on Tyler The Creator’s “Sweet / I Thought You Wanted to Dance” with Brent Faiyaz from his Grammy Award-winning album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. Fana’s compelling performances and limitless ability to paint emotions with her music led to touring with Raveena, Snoh Aalegra, and Giveon in the US and playing a sold-out headline tour in Europe, as well as gaining fans in the likes of Janelle Monae, Sabrina Claudio, and Lucky Daye.

In April, she took the stage at Spotify’s Fresh Finds live experience in Chicago alongside artists like Paris Texas, Slow Pulp and Casper Sage. Last month, Fana was also announced as the special guest on Lucky Daye’s US summer tour, kicking off on July 11th in San Francisco, and stopping at legendary venues like New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and Los Angeles’s Greek Theatre—tickets are on sale May 3rd HERE. With a new album on the horizon, Fana Hues’ return marks an exciting new chapter in her masterful artistic evolution.
