DC The Don Really “Hate Being Lonely”

DC The Don Really “Hate Being Lonely”

Boundlessly creative with a gift for easy melody, rising rapper DC The Don inhabits a universe of his own creation. Today, the Milwaukee native drops “Hate Being Lonely,” along with a new video. Produced by Aprxx, “Hate Being Lonely” borrows elements of dance genres like UK garage and 2-step to create a terminally chill, yet propulsive atmosphere for DC to skate on: “Tell me what you need and when you want me/Too drunk and you hate being lonely/I got what you need and then some,” he croons.

In the new video, directed by Connor Pritchard, DC’s romantic ambitions get the best of him, as his two girlfriends find out he’s being unfaithful and join forces to stop his two-timing. What seems like a dream night for DC turns into a nightmare, as he loses two chances at love and earns a slap on the face for good measure.

“Hate Being Lonely” is the first single from FUNERAL, DC The Don’s next full-length album. FUNERAL is an immersive look inside the rapper’s world of hard-edged raps and hyperpop melodies, skillfully blending the two sides of his personality that dominated each half of last year’s ambitious project My Own Worst Enemy. On FUNERAL, DC works with a core crew of producers to craft a danceable, uptempo new sound that incorporates elements of club, trap, bubblegum pop, emo, dubstep, and everything else that catches the omnivorous rapper’s fancy. The latest step in the artist’s evolution, FUNERAL arrives in the coming weeks via Rostrum Records.

2023 has been a very busy year for the breakout rapper. In March, DC turned back the clock when he re-released his 2018 mixtape DC DAHMER, adding two standout new songs: the lilting and heartfelt “Mood Swings!,” produced by Trademark, and the transporting, guitar-led “LSD Freestyle.” In January, DC released the endlessly creative original mixtape SACRED HEART (+), home to standouts like “SRT / UMBRELLA” and “SHUTUP!” Following in the wake of 2022’s “FUNERAL Tour,” DC plans to hit the road again this May, as he joins $NOT on his Get Busy Or Die Tour,” where he will be a supporting act alongside Night Lovell.

With FUNERAL on the way, DC The Don is determined to prove there’s nothing he can’t do. Stay tuned for much more in the near future. For more coverage on DC The Don click here.
