Bowen Thi Releases New Single “Ain’t My Fault”

They say everything is bigger in Houston, TX and this includes musical acts. From Beyoncé to Travis Scott, H-town has produced many musical megastars, but there are many talented artists from the city that are waiting for their big break. Houston native and artist Bowen Thi has proven his talent through his previous work and hopes he has his big break with the release of his first studio single “Ain’t My Fault”.

Synth-pop ruled the airways during the 1980s and has made a comeback due to acts such as The Weeknd and The Kid Laroi bringing it back to the forefront with mega-hits. On “Ain’t My Fault, Thi tries this formula out and hits it out the ballpark. The beat creates a dark atmosphere, emphasized with Thi’s baritone vocals and his murk lyrics

In the song Thi seemingly accepts his unstable mental state however, he does not blame himself for it. He is aware of how people perceive him as crazy and it takes a toll on him. He sings, ‘’They say I’m crazy what’s that about? I’ma shut my mouth and close my mouth and close my eyes, scream that s—t, can you tell me why.”

Music Video

You would not think that “Ain’t My Fault’” could get grimmer, but the visuals are the icing on the cake. The scenery for the music video is futuristic but dark. Thi plays a clearly deranged character that needs help. In the beginning, Thi looks at a crumbled piece of paper with a drawing on it. Throughout the duration of the visuals, Thi tries to show and explain the drawing to strangers, but to no surprise, they all look at him like he is insane.

A bizarre moment occurs when Thi gets jumped. This can be interpreted as his demons beating him up due to the violent, red lighting during the scene. The drawing reveal at the end shows it as a simple drawing of a woman. Thi throws it on the ground and walks away.

With the song and visuals, Bowen Thi illustrated his deep creativity which is a clear indicator of a star in the making. You can listen to “Ain’t My Fault” on all streaming platforms.
