BLXST Knows “Just My Type”
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, producer, and visionary BLXST releases his new single “Just My Type,” alongside an official music video, from his highly anticipated, forthcoming album Labor of Love, arriving June 12 via EMPIRE and International BLXST.
Self-produced by BLXST, “Just My Type” captures the excitement and chemistry that comes with finding someone who feels effortless. The track offers another intimate glimpse into the world of Labor of Love, continuing the album’s themes of connection, vulnerability, and intentionality.
“I wanted the song to feel natural and really live in the moment while creating it,” shares BLXST. “Making ‘Just My Type’ brought me back to the sound people first connected with me through. It’s about being present with somebody you genuinely care about and not overthinking something that feels right.”
Directed by Maxwell Alldread, the accompanying music video captures the warmth and intimacy of a nostalgic house gathering, featuring candid moments of friends playing video games, dominos, and dancing. The video reflects the song’s warmth and the feeling of being surrounded by people you love.
The release follows the announcement of Labor of Love, BLXST’s most personal and intentional project to date. Entirely self-produced, the album centers on the discipline, sacrifice, and intention it takes to build something you truly love – reflecting the “labor of love” he pours into both his music and his family, as he balances life as an artist and a father. The project stands as his most personal and authentic work to date.
“Just My Type” arrives in continued support of the album rollout, following previously released single “Day After Day” featuring Big Sad 1900, which will also appear on the project. Labor of Love follows BLXST’s 2024 project and short film I’ll Always Come Find You, which leaned into cinematic storytelling, while this new body of work takes a more grounded and direct approach.
