Today, Blackpink released their “Ready for Love” music video and continued their unlikely partnership with battle royale video game enterprise, PUBG. The video features the group’s four members, Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, in CG avatar form. The backdrop for the video belongs to PUBG as the girls fly through the air, ride motorcycles, and run around through beautiful visuals.

“Ready for Love” is a dreamy pop song with mild EDM influence. In the second verse, Lisa raps “Ready or not, here I come and I’m running/ Like it’s now or never, I never know if you want it/ What if love wasn’t what it was supposed to be?/ What if there’s no Romeo for me?”

“Ready for Love” was first released as a special track, and a part of a collaboration with PUBG MOBILE, during the in-game avatar concert THE VIRTUAL held on July 23, 2022. However, Blinks first caught a glimpse of the song in the group’s Netflix documentary, Light Up the Sky. The documentary showed the behind the scenes of the birth and production of the track.

The music video’s release is not the first time Blackpink and PUBG have joined forces. In August of 2021, Blackpink has PUBG items including bundles from each of the girls and also things like BLACKPINK gun skins. In case some Blinks missed the premiere, they’ll still have a chance to catch another round of virtual Blackpink on July 29-30 in North and South America, and July 30-31 across the rest of the world. Players also have the opportunity to obtain the outfits BLACKPINK wore during the concert through Aug. 31.

Earlier this month, YG Entertainment announced Blackpink’s comeback in a press release on July 6th confirming there will be new music in August, and that they’re in the “final stages of recording an album.”

“Blinks” (Blackpink stans) will also be happy to know that there is “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year” in the works. Additionally, the group plans to “go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans worldwide.” This album and tour will be the group’s second global run after their 2020 “In Your Area” world tour.
