Bas and J. Cole Travel On “Passport Bros”

Dreamville duo Bas and J. Cole debuted the music video for their new hit single, “Passport Bros,” produced by Parallel Studios. Taking place in vibrant Las Vegas at Resorts World, viewers are taken across the world. Stops on this thrilling trip include Awana Spa, Eight Lounge, Kusa Nori, Zouk Nightclub, and the bustling casino floor. Each of these hotspots in the resort depicts a different part of the world from Johannesburg to Tokyo to Barcelona.

The music video is directed by the founder of The Parallel Agency and Parallel Studios, Simon Chasalow. Speaking on the video, he said, “The whole video is meant to be a ride along for fans and provide a look into Bas and J. Cole’s lives as they travel the world. The two of them have been doing this for over a decade. When they first started making music, a lot of their videos were simple “run and gun” style fun visuals. We wanted to keep that same real energy present. The result is a fun video that focuses on real moments between Bas and his closest friends.”

Chasalow proves his point by keeping good vibes only, as Bas and Cole move from place to place together with a smile on their face in the video. It has been praised by fans and has even found itself trending on YouTube.

The song itself has many different characteristics that could easily make it one of the songs of the summer. It opens with, “Clase Azul got me singin’, ‘I love you too’,” which also happens to be the last line of the catchy chorus that could easily be sung along by listeners. Both Bas and Cole incorporate the theme of travel into each of their flowing verses.

The song has an Afrobeat instrumental in addition to what sounds to be the South African genre Amapiano. Its smooth rhythm joins an observable percussion bassline featuring a log drum. The instrumentals also feature the typical sounds one could hear while traveling, including a hotel bell and what could be a traffic whistle.

Fans of Bas can get excited as he briefly mentioned an album was coming soon at the bottom of his Instagram post announcing the Dreamville duo’s collaboration. For now, whether at home or abroad, fans can enjoy the global sounds of “Passport Bros.”
