A1 x J1 Release Highly Anticipated Single “Night Away (Dance)”
Although The Garnette Report usually covers American artists who are on the rise, for this article we had to go overseas. UK duo A1 x J1 is the topic of discussion due to the release of their new single, “Night Away (Dance)” which features Tion Wayne.
At just 16 and 18, A1 x J1 have been solidifying their names in the UK music scene. They already have two top-five singles and a platinum-selling record. Their success climaxed with a 2022 BRIT nomination.
Song Production and Content
The song reinterprets the hook off Jennifer Lopez’s smash hit “On the floor”. Each artist uses the hook to speak about their playboy lifestyle and how they cannot settle for just one girl. Mixed with an acoustic melody plus hard-hitting 808s and trap drums, the UK duo curated a club banger.
When talking about the new single J1 said: “The track is a banger, we had so much fun making this song and Tion is like a big bro so it made so much sense to do this song together”. A1 adds: “This song is jumpy, it’s melodic, has different flows, it’s a banger! Working with Tion in the studio is a vibe, the way he works is so different”.
Tion Wayne Feature
Tion Wayne is another name on the list of big artists that the teenage duo has collaborated with. Wayne recently gained a UK number one single with global smash ‘Body’ as well as receiving a BRIT Award nomination. A1 x J1 has collaborated with some of the biggest UK rappers like KSI and mainstream American acts such as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
A snippet of the track went viral on TikTok. With 4.5 million views across the duo’s teaser content for the song, “Night Away (Dance)” is already set to be a success. The song will be heard on the radio and in clubs around the world. Watch the official music video here.
