03 Greedo is “Rich On Grape Street”

A respected innovator in the West Coast rap scene, 03 Greedo is making the most of his freedom. The Watts, CA native recently completed “Another Purple Summer Tour,” a series of sold out dates in OaklandSan Diego, and an emotional homecoming at The Novo in Los Angeles. To celebrate his sold out run, Greedo shares “Rich On Grape Street,” an anthemic new single. Produced by YoungKio, the Dutch beatmaker who produced “Old Town Road,” “Rich On Grape Street” glistens like an L.A. sunset, providing a luscious bassline that bends around Greedo’s melodic runs. Recounting his riches as he remembers his checkered past, Greedo flaunts his ability to ignore the jealousy and naysaying: “All that sh*t don’t faze me/Cause I got rich on Grape Street.”

Stylishly directed by MOSHPXT, the video for “Rich On Grape Street” offers a snapshot of Greedo’s life, illustrating how far he’s come. The rapper relaxes with his crew, looking out on his city from his house on the hill, reminiscing on his home neighborhood on 103rd and Grape and thinking about how far he’s come. He ignores the jealous onlookers, making the most of his time outside and reveling in his status as L.A.’s top dog.

The single also follows Greedo’s recent announcement of the upcoming “Rich On Grape Street Tour,” which kicks off on September 22nd in Phoenix, with continued stops in Denver, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, and more stops on the West Coast. “Rich On Grape Street” is Greedo’s first new single since the release of Halfway There, his first project of all-newly recorded music since 2018. Recorded in the months since his January release at Houston’s Sugar Hill Studios, Halfway There benefits from Greedy’s endless font of melodies and peerless ability to write fully-realized songs in a matter of minutes. The tape is home to the single “Bacc Like I Never Left,” as well as guest appearances from Ty Dolla $ignBabyface RayMaxo Kream, and many more, Halfway There is available everywhere via Alamo Records.

Earlier in the year, Greedo shared Free 03, a project created in collaboration with L.A. producer Mike Free. Acclaimed by PitchforkFree 03 contains music Greedo recorded from jail, along with music made before he began his prison sentence. Greedo made his grand return to the stage at Billboard’s The Stage @ SXSW, performing his new single and highlights from his career. Over the weekend, Greedo performed at Rolling Loud Miami, playing hits from throughout his career to a crowd of devoted friends. The artist gave a glimpse into his post-prison life and his creative process with a recent documentary about the making of Halfway There, and was the subject of a glowing feature in the L.A. Times in late March.

With much more music on the way, 03 Greedo is making up for lost time. Forget a Purple Summer…it’s gonna be Purple all year long.
