Museum of Graffiti Ignites Miami Art Week with Origins & JonOne

As Miami Art Week prepares to take over the city, the Museum of Graffiti, recognized as one of the best museums in the United States, is marking its 6th anniversary with a bold new exhibition overhaul, a global artist spotlight, and a full lineup of immersive programming powered by Rust-O.
This year, the Museum unveils Origins, a semi-permanent exhibition that traces the evolution of graffiti from its raw beginnings on the streets and subways of New York City to its rise as a celebrated international art form. Guests will step through a recreated vintage hardware store—a nostalgic nod to graffiti’s DIY roots—before entering the exhibition. The installation doubles as a working paint shop stocked entirely with Rust-Oleum, Rust-Oleum’s new spray-paint line created specifically for artists.
Inside, visitors will experience a rare presentation of original works by United Graffiti Artists members PHASE2, FLINT 707, SNAKE 1, and COCO144—pieces not seen since their 1973 gallery debut. “Tracking down rare artifacts like this was always part of our mission,” says Museum co-founder Allison Freidin. “We want the true history of graffiti told most authentically.”
Balancing history with modern mastery, the Museum is also presenting a major solo exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist JonOne (John Andrew Perello). His show, El Tiguere, celebrates grit, resilience, and the vibrant, kinetic style that has made his work instantly recognizable across the globe. For the first time in Miami, the Museum will also feature a live working studio, where JonOne will be creating new pieces in real time, including a special opening-day performance.
“I’ve been following Jon since the ’80s,” says Museum co-founder and curator Alan Ket. “Once vilified, we now celebrate his artistic genius. His journey reflects the story of the culture itself.”

About JonOne
Born in Harlem in 1963, JonOne began writing graffiti at 17 before co-founding the 156 All Starz. His move to Paris in the late ’80s sparked a new chapter in his career, blending graffiti, abstract expressionism, and action painting into a vibrant, signature style. His work has been exhibited globally, and in 2015 he received the Legion of Honour from the French Republic.
About the Museum of Graffiti
Founded in 2019 in Wynwood, the Museum of Graffiti is the first institution in the world dedicated exclusively to preserving and celebrating graffiti culture. Through exhibitions, education, and community programming, the Museum showcases the global impact of this once-underground movement.
