This would not be Pharrell’s first time working in the fashion industry. This includes collaborating with the Nigo on the Billion Boys Club a streetwear label. Also, Pharrell was one of seven designers to participate in creating his own interpretation of the signature Maya puffer jacket.

“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new men’s creative director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton toward a new and very exciting chapter.”

Beccari said in a statement.

Williams was friends with Abloh, so his legacy should continue at Louis Vuitton, in addition, to his own flare as an international style icon known for his adventurous outlook on fashion.

Currently, sales at the brand topped 20 billion euros for the first time. This includes group revenues of more than 79 million euros, which is all according to LVMH.

Likewise, Vuitton has put out environmental goals it would like to reach by 2025. Some of these goals include — deploying an eco-design process that includes a life-cycle assessment. This would apply to products ranging from leather goods, small leather goods, luggage, shoes, and perfume.

Williams comes with solid environmental credentials and previously served as creative director of Bionic Yarn. A company that makes textiles, polymers, and other materials from plastic and other recyclable waste recovered from the ocean.

Pharrell Williams is an innovator, outsider, experimenter, and ecosystem builder. These qualities make the artist a perfect fit for Louis Vuitton’s values.
