Juana Martin: La’Rosee

Juana Martin: La’Rosee

Juana Martin, hailing from Cordoba, takes center stage on Monday, January 22, 2024, in the official Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture calendar, as she presents her mesmerizing collection, “LA ROSÉE.”

Juana Martín draws inspiration from her Andalusian roots for her latest collection, capturing the essence of an Andalusian spring—morning dew, the golden evening light, the fragrant blooms, vibrant colors, and lingering sunsets. Spring, a timeless muse for countless artists throughout art history, holds a special significance this year, marking the centennial anniversary of Julio Romero de Torres’ iconic painting “La Prima” in Cordoba.

A century later, the spirit of Andalusian spring finds its way to Paris through Juana Martín’s exquisite designs for the Spring-Summer 2024 collection. The collection pays homage to the wicker craftsmanship deeply embedded in certain Andalusian towns, seamlessly integrated in various forms. Brocades adorned with sacred motifs, intricately crafted jewels inspired by religious gold smithery, and wicker in diverse contexts, along with embroidery and crystals reminiscent of morning dew, collectively immerse us in the rich tapestry of the Andalusian tradition. “Many garments seem to be sprinkled with dew, even the flowers,” notes the designer. The collection becomes a reflection of light, that distinctive Andalusian light filtering through window bars, kissing the face of a flamenco dancer on festival days, and illuminating every narrow street. Pure light!

Remaining true to her favored color palette of black and white, Juana Martín infuses these timeless hues with the luminosity of Andalusian spring. Fluid fabrics, delicate lace, shimmering silver, and other recycled materials breathe life into the traditions of the era—Holy Week, festive fairs, and the blossoming of flowers between the bars of balconies. “LA ROSÉE” stands not only as a collection but as a vivid symphony of Andalusian elegance, where every piece narrates a tale of tradition, craftsmanship, and the enduring beauty of spring in Cordoba.
