My Reckless Abandon by Bella Kay
My Reckless Abandon is the debut of Bella Kay, a singer-songwriter who is mostly known for her virility on places like TikTok and Instagram, released on July 12.
The 20-year-old first went viral in 2025 with her song ‘Sick ‘, a song that doesn’t feature on the album but is crucial to understanding how Kay‘s trajectory in the music industry is going, and that is through a dedicated audience online that is a part of her success going forward. She is already set to
A soft alternative type of pop with melodic vocals.
Sleeper highlights on the album are Karaoke with its deeper and more sophisticated production, and Marrow. That is not to say that iloveitiloveitilveit or I deserve better didn’t earn their flowers, but they are more straightforward in overall impact.
As a fan of the floating sad girl genre, it’s a pretty clean-cut debut and worth getting to know who Bella Kay is musically. That being said, it was produced and co-written by Alexis Idarose Kesselman and released under Atlantic Records.
The album is short, a soft alternative type of pop with melodic vocals that string together the acoustic parts of the album with hearty lyrics. The real strength is the passion she has in her performance, which, for a debut its a strong showcase of an artist who is already reaping a lot of promising potential.
Already, she’s opened for artists like Gracey Abrams and Noah Kahan whom she shares the same melodic capabilities of introspection and wanting in her performance and writing. Earlier this month, she announced her own tour in the United States that includes appearances at multiple festivals including Lalaplooza and All Things Must Go.
