Ariana Grande Drops First Single for “Petal”
Kicking off her new Petal era, Ariana Grande has released the project’s first single Hate That I Made You Love Me.
Grande described the single on Instagram as one of her favorite songs she has ever written and that she “cannot wait for it to be yours”.
The single follows a mid-tempo feel as Grande sings in a muted and restrained tone over a relaxed instrumental.
The single (and album) was produced and co-written by Grande and previous collaborator Ilya (Ilya Salmanzadeh) who worked with the singer on her 2024 Eternal Sunshine LP along with producing hits with the likes of Taylor Swift and Sam Smith.
Back in April, Grande took to social media to announce her latest album by stating that it is “Something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.” She also shared the album cover as well which is a closeup black and white photo of the singer smiling with her hair cascading across her face.
To add on, Grande will also be hitting the road for her Eternal Sunshine Tour which she announced in August of last year with stops in California, New York, Texas and additional dates in Canada and the UK.
Before her announcement, Ariana Grande starred as Glinda the Wicked films along with her co-star Cynthia Erivo who played the role of Elphaba. Its sequel Wicked For Good has grossed over $500 million at the box office since its release in November 2025 but received more mixed reviews amongst critics compared to its previous installment.
The upcoming album is set to feature twelve tracks and is currently available for pre-order on digital or physical formats such as vinyl, CD and even cassette format.
