Blumarine Update

The Italian house, known for its glamorous designs, is undergoing a transformation. This past July, Blumarine announced that David Koma would become the new creative director. Before him, Walter Chiapponi created his one and only collection, Fall/Winter 2024, then exited the house.

In the 2000s, Blumarine produced the most dazzling and dreamy collections. Specifically, celebrities like Brittany Murphy and Paris Hilton wore the extravagant designs. Nowadays, Kona’s hold on the house is strong, and so is his creative vision.

Runway and All

The Spring/Summer 2004 is exemplary of what the house’s vision used to be. In addition, short silk dresses and bows flowed down the runway. Also, lace mixed with the light silk to create effortless silhouettes. Many of the pieces included sweetheart necklines or delicate embroidery.

Blumarine kept with themes similar to this collection for the years that would follow. The house embraced its views of femininity and grace. However, there has been a shift in perspective. The directors of the early 2020’s are taking the house in a different direction.

For instance, there is Nicola Brognano’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Notably, he was the last creative director before Chiapponi and then Kona. This collection brought a different type of elegance to the runway. The models strutted down the runway dressed as angelic figures in gold.

Also, they wore massive shining Blumarine earrings. Gems and diamonds branded a number of the pieces. Additionally, the sparkle of the 2000s was present, but with a more modern touch.

Currently, David Koma is at the top of his game design-wise. The Resort 2025 collection shows satin, chiffon, and drapery. In addition, each of the pieces boasts a new type of elegance: the 2020’s chic. Cropped cardigans can be paired with leather-fringe skirts. Kona created this collection for both the Blumarine lovers and the modern woman. Additionally, it shows his skills as a designer. He used silk, a Blumarine classic, and made it new and fresh again.
