The Wimbledon: Semi-Finals, Finals, And Nadal

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the 2022 Wimbledon after an injury. Additionally, semi-finals and finals are underway for the tournament. Below are reports on players and upcoming games.

Rafael Nadal and Men’s Singles

Spanish tennis player and 22-time Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal, has pulled out of the Wimbledon due to an abdominal injury. He endured a 7mm tear during his quarter final with American Taylor Fritz. Nadal was set to play Australian Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final today. However, Kyrgios has received the go ahead to play in the final against Novak Djokovic or Cameron Norrie, the other semi-final contenders. Because of his withdrawal, Nadal has forfeited the possibility of a calendar Grand Slam. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for the beloved tennis player.

Women’s Singles

Yesterday were the Women’s Singles semi-final with the winners now set to play tomorrow. Kazakhstan player, Elena Rybakina beat 2-time Grand Slam winner Romanian, Simona Haelp. Rybakina will be playing Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the final. Yesterday, Jabeur won against German, Tatjana Maria, to become the first Arab woman to reach a grand slam final. Tomorrow both women will be looking to take home their first ever grand slam title.

Men’s Doubles

Yesterday were the semi-finals for the men’s doubles. Australians Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell beat out the American and UK players to participate in the final tomorrow. The Australians are set to play the Croatian duo Mate Pavić and Nikola Mektić. Pavić is a 5-time Grand Slam Champion, while Mektić is a 2-time Grand Slam Champion. They won the Men’s Double Championship at the Wimbledon last year and are looking take home another win for Croatia.

Mixed Doubles

Yesterday’s Wimbledon mixed doubles finals were won by American Desirae Krawczyk and United Kingdom player Neal Skupski. The two are the second pair to win back-to-back mixed doubles in 25 years. This is Skupski’s second grand slam title and Krawczyk’s fourth.
