Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo denies allegations, for the third time, coming from multiple women that accuse him of sexual misconduct.

In the first press conference on which he acknowledged the allegations publicly, he apologized to the women that had come forward for making them feel uncomfortable saying, “It was unintentional, and I truly and deeply apologize for it. I feel awful about it, and frankly, I am embarrassed about it, and that’s not easy to say, but that’s the truth.” And, “I certainly never ever meant to offend anyone or hurt anyone or cause anyone any pain. That is the last thing I would ever want to do.”

Since then, various politicians have come out to demand Cuomo’s resignation. On March 1st, at the beginning of many allegations to come, Representative Kathleen Rice tweeted the New York Times’ article on a woman who accuses Cuomo of unwanted advancements at a wedding, stating “The time has come. The Governor must resign.”

Yesterday, Representative Jerry Nadler issued a statement saying that “Cuomo has lost the confidence of the people of New York. Governor Cuomo must resign now.”

Other Democrats have also issued statements and called for the Governor to resign, such as U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

Cuomo has continued to reject any calls for his resignation, stating that he would not bow down to “cancel culture.” He asserts that people should wait for the results of the investigations currently happening. Saying, “no one wants them to happen more quickly and more thoroughly than I do.”
