Awich & A$ap Ferg Head To The ‘Butcher Shop’
The queen of Japanese Hip-Hop Awich collaborates with A$ap FERG on her newest track, “Butcher Shop”. “Butcher Shop” is a collaboration of both American and Japanese hip-hop, blended into a song where Awich and FERG’s rap style compliment one another seamlessly. The track is produced by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, who took Awich under his wing during a trip in Japan after he recognized her genuine love for hip-hop. When reflecting on the track, Awich had these words to say. “‘Butcher Shop’ is a place where three of my realities intersect—Okinawa, where I was born and raised; Tokyo, where I live now; and New York. Together with a legend like RZA and a true embodiment of the streets like A$ap FERG, we cut through the noise with sharp words and beats to capture the spirit of this borderless era. This song is a crossroads—Japan and NYC, culture and fashion, luxury and play, sin and consequence. Everyone brings their own ‘meat’ to the table, and we slice into the truth. Welcome to our Butcher Shop.” The single is the first of many to come from Awich as she looks towards global dominance in her music, paving the way for the next generation to come.
Over the course of the last few years, Awich has been cementing her spot in the US music industry. After becoming the first Japanese rapper to perform at Coachella in 2024, and becoming the person that musicians traveling to Japan comes to; the star has built organic relationships that shows how genuine and far she’ll go. The dedication she has to showcasing the worldwide impact of hip-hop in an authentic and respectful way, Awich has truly started the road to becoming a timeless artist. This song shows the versatlity in Awich’s raps. This feature with A$ap Ferg will definitely be the song of the Spring.
