Anitta, MykeTowers, Cardi B embrace Spanish roots in new hit “Me Gusta”

Released last Friday, the Brazilian pop queen and Puerto Rican rapper came together with a fierce Cardi B to show us that Latinos don’t play.

“Me Gusta” is the latest provocative, upbeat record that will bump in the clubs (or your living room) in no time. All three artists are certainly not afraid to tell us what they like.

Anitta hints to a potential partner, “Every time you look at me, that way. A mí me gusta,” and “La Cardi” introduces her verse with, “He like to eat the cake like it’s my b-day. To’ lo día’ es mi cumpleaño.”

MykeTowers tells us his type, “Ponte creativa, todas la’ mujere’ son hermosas. Pero las más que me gustan son latina,” stating that all women are beautiful, but his favorite are Latinas.

Just hours after the song broke the internet with constant streams and TikTok dances, Anitta blesses viewers’ eyes with a radiant, picturesque music video on YouTube. Filmed in Salvador, they combine untamed dance moves, aesthetically pleasing outfits and stunning looks in the hot Brazilian sun.

Originally leaving fans wondering who the “special guest” was on the track, the Bronx-born rapper’s supporters immediately blew up social media when Cardi made the announcement on Instagram. The cover art shows Cardi in an elegant, soft pink dress getting comfy with the beautiful Anitta’s backside in a neon yellow bodysuit, and MykeTowers preparing to drop the hottest verse of his career.

Clearly the pandemic hasn’t curbed Anitta’s motivation, considering she’s been featured on multiple singles including her own. Instead, she’s still on her grind. Following the rumors of Cardi B’s divorce to rapper Offset and her hiatus before collabing with Megan Thee Stallion, this is a new era for the “WAP” rapper, and there’s no telling what she’ll deliver next.

If 2020 has taught us anything from the music industry, it’s that confidence and body positivity reigns. This track invites you to express your interests, especially when it comes to our bodies and personality.
