Founded in 2018 by Elsa Marie Collins, Zoe Winkler Reinis and Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, This Is About Humanity directly addresses the ongoing devastation of family separation in border cities. Through education and the assembling of a community of allies and advocates, the organization facilitates trips to the border, a fiscally sponsored fund to provide individuals and families with essentials including health and mental health services, educational spaces, construction projects, and much more.

The elegant soirée, held at Stacey and Henry Winkler’s home, featured a culinary spotlight curated by Mexico’s Michelin-Star chef Javier Plascencia, including an all-star lineup of chefs like 3 Michelin-Star chef Dominique Crenn, 2 Michelin-Star chef Josiah Citrin, Michelin-Star Oscar Torres and many more, winemakers Tru Miller and Fernando Perez Castro from Valle de Guadalupe, and mixologist Fabiola Padilla of Bekeb San Miguel de Allende. The evening recognized Florence Azria for her outstanding generosity in supporting TIAH’s food relief efforts to serve over one million meals per year.

Florence’s contributions helped families and children at the border access legal services through the Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef) – a next-generation social justice law firm that defends our immigrant communities against injustices in the immigration system, and This is About Humanity’s food-relief kitchen at the US-Tijuana border – a collaborative kitchen in conjunction with Fundacion Tijuana Sin Hambre and the International Community Foundation which currently serves 3,100 meals to 23 shelters daily which is the equivalent of 1 million meals a year.
