Montville’s ‘Black Rabbit’: Local Spot or Worth the Drive?
North Jersey is home to some of the state’s best food. Period. In a way, it’s almost required to. Bordering the food capital of the United States, and arguably the world, New York City, it’s got a lot to live up to. New Jersey itself boasts fantastic Italian cuisine to accompany its wide range of Delis, Diners, Pizzerias and Bagel shops.
But in every small town, you need that comfort place. A place to grab a quick bite or watch a big game or have a drink after dinner. Montville is no stranger to the small suburban pub. Harrigan’s Family Restaurant, located at 144 Main Rd, Montville, NJ, is never a bad option for some good local fun. Columbia Inn, located at 29 Main Rd, Montville, NJ, had its pizza rated an 8.7 by Barstool’s Dave Portnoy. Both great options, yet not the best in town.
Look No Further than Black Rabbit Saloon
Located just down the street from both is a hidden gem, Montville’s Black Rabbit Saloon. It may seem like a local suburban tavern with decent pub food akin to those before it. But in reality, it’s so much more. Black Rabbit offers something different. Offering an upscale, cozier vibe, the tavern is unique yet versatile. It’s a place where you’ll get to know the bartenders or go for a one off to watch your favorite sports team. It’s chill, conversational and laid back. With a dark, warm, saloon-style decor, Black Rabbit offers a casual vibe with fantastic food.
On the surface, it’s a small pub serving as a sports bar with craft beer for locals. But after taking one glance at the menu, it’s apparent something more is going on here. While classic tavern options like wings and calamari appear, oddities like escargots, jumbo lump crab-cake and shishito peppers also feature. Of course it’s not a pub without a wide selection of burgers, flatbreads and sandwiches. Black Rabbit serves it all and more!
But part of what makes this place so special is the bottom of its menu, titled HOMEMADE PASTAS. What local bar/tavern is serving up in house gnocchi, rigatoni bolognese or cacio e pepe? So whatever you’re in the mood for, Black Rabbit Saloon has you covered. Visit at 8 Main Rd in Montville, NJ today!
