NYFW 2026 Days 2-5 Quick Recap
The bulk of New York Fashion Week 2026 is now behind us as it’s offically the last day of the annual fashion showcase. This year’s fashion week brought together the fresh faces of the design world with the longstanding titans of the industry, some of whom were making a return to the event after long hiatus.
This NYFW in particular also held a somber place in the minds and hearts of many as day two marked the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Despite the heaviness surrounding the thought of remembering that day and how it impacted the 2001 NYFW , which was in the midst of its highly anticipated run, the designers brought their love and passion not only for their collections but for New York City as well to the forefront.
While its easy to lose track of all of the shows from the past few days, here are some of the highlight collections.
Michael Kors SS27
For his latest collection, Michael Kors mixed office chic with Mod fashion of the 1960s. Oversized, yet still tailored blazers and pleated pants walked side-by-side with dresses featuring intricate cut outs, eye-catching prints, and a few pairs of glasses that look straight out of Jackie O’s closet circa 1976.
Sandy Liang SS27
Sandy Liang brought her hyper-feminine flair back to NYFW for another year with pieces that as always manage to follow the throughline of the brand. Lace, tulle, and satin adorned the majority of the pieces with the excpetion of some trench coat and windbreaker inspired jackets.
LaQuan Smith SS27
LaQuan Smith’s latest collection, as with many of his previous ones, is a modern take on over-the-top 1980s chic. From the big hair and even bigger shoulder pads, every outfit seems designed to have the wearer make their plans around the outfit rather than the other way around. Some of the pieces could be wearable in normal office or cocktail party settings, the vast majority of pieces would be simply too releaviling to wear anywhere except a red carpet or in this case the runway.
Calvin Klein SS27
Calvin Klein is a true testament to finding a signature design focus and improving on it year in and year out. While it might not be the most visually exciting collection to come out of NYFW, it is one of the most cohesive to its respective brand and a case of impeccable tailoring.
Connor Ives SS27
British designer Conner Ives made his NYFW debut with a splash. The mix of funky patterns with classic silhouettes was perfectly flamboyant for a spring/summer collection. At just 30 years old, Ives is already making a name for himself and his label in the fashion sphere and it will be interesting to watch his continued growth.
Khaite SS27
Khaite sent their models down the runway with intentionally wind blown hairdos and outfits that looked as if the models were told to pick some items at random from their closet that somehow still worked. The procession was led by Kaia Gerber, who looked so starkly like her mother, beloved model icon Cindy Crawford, that I took a double take. The entire collection tries to envoke a blend between traditionally feminine, lacy, and floral appliqué pieces with tight leather and oversized black tops. While the collection looks cohesive on it’s own, it would be difficult to style more than just a few pieces from this collection with any other item of clothing one may own and have it look cohesive.
Carolina Herrera SS27
Carolina Herrera kicked off the house’s 45th anniversary show with a sea of yellow tulips and an unwavering love for New York City. The house which was founded in NYC in 1981 included nods to The New Yorker alongside the label’s signature red, floral, and polka dot print. This collection was incredibly maximalist, yet refined as seen in several of the items shown which feels on brand for the longstanding house.
