Fashion Has A Mainframe That Brings Industry Leaders to NYFW
The acclaimed jewelry designer joins Romeo Hunte, Alexander-Julian, Maui Kai Malone and Evita Scoccia for The Model’s Resource’s New York Fashion Week event on September 8.
New York Fashion Week is about more than what happens on the runway. This season, The Model’s Resource (TmR) is bringing together some of fashion’s leading creative voices for Fashion’s New Mainframe, an industry conversation exploring how fashion is evolving and what its future could look like.
The Model’s Resource has announced renowned jewelry designer Alexis Bittar as the newest addition to the September 8 panel. Bittar will join New York designer Romeo Hunte, stylist and creative director Alexander-Julian, Maui Kai Malone, co-founder and creative director of Maui x Lolita, and Evita Scoccia, founder of New York Swim Week and EVITA.
Award-winning journalist and Black Enterprise Director of Multiplatform Content Selena Hill will moderate the conversation.
Alexis Bittar Brings an Independent Perspective
Bittar’s addition brings another dimension to a panel already spanning design, styling, entrepreneurship and creative direction. Known for his distinctive jewelry and unmistakable design language, Bittar has spent decades building an independent creative business while establishing a recognizable presence at the intersection of fashion, art and culture.
That experience is particularly relevant to the larger purpose behind Fashion’s New Mainframe: examining what it means to create, work and build sustainable careers within an industry experiencing significant change.
Rather than focusing solely on the traditional fashion system, the discussion will bring together professionals with different experiences and perspectives to consider where the industry is headed next.
Building Fashion’s “New Mainframe”
The evening also serves as an introduction to The Model’s Resource and its vision for creating a more connected professional fashion ecosystem.
TmR is designed to bring many of the tools fashion professionals use throughout their careers into one centralized platform. Members can create professional profiles and portfolios, discover castings and opportunities, connect with collaborators, find brands and producers and manage projects.
The goal is to simplify a professional landscape that can often feel fragmented.
Instead of moving between separate platforms for discovery, networking, hiring, collaboration and production, TmR aims to create a space where fashion professionals can move from being discovered to finding opportunities, assembling teams and ultimately bringing creative projects to life.
For models, designers, photographers, stylists, beauty professionals, producers and other creatives, the platform is positioning itself as more than another networking tool. Its larger ambition is to create infrastructure that supports professional relationships and career development beyond a single booking.
Fashion’s New Mainframe Comes to Chelsea
Approximately 200 to 300 invited guests are expected to attend Fashion’s New Mainframe, including models, designers, photographers, stylists, beauty professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, producers and members of the media.
Alongside the industry panel and audience Q&A, the evening will feature a VIP reception with cocktails, specialty drinks and bites, creative activations, TmR gifts, networking and media activations. Guests will also experience the official reveal of The Model’s Resource platform, with music throughout the evening by DJ Gr1fn.
Fashion’s New Mainframe arrives at a moment when conversations around access, visibility, collaboration and career sustainability have become increasingly important throughout fashion. By bringing different sides of the industry into the same room—and eventually onto the same digital platform—TmR is making the case for a fashion ecosystem that is more connected and easier to navigate.
Fashion’s New Mainframe takes place Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Gallery AP Space, 555 W 25th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with the panel beginning at 7 p.m.
The dress code is Editorial Formal, and the event is invitation-only with RSVP required.
