Evan Hirsch SS25 : Memories and Drapery
Designer Evan Hirsch, renowned for his inventive convertible fashion, unveiled his SS2025 collection to an eager audience on a rooftop just off Times Square during New York Fashion Week. While the collection featured his signature transformable looks, this season, Hirsch expanded his repertoire to include classic pieces and designs that play with perception, leaving onlookers questioning what they just witnessed.
A Sentimental Journey Through Fabric Selections
This season’s standout story lies in Hirsch’s deeply personal choice of fabrics. Faced with selling his childhood home on Long Island, Hirsch reflected on the loss of a place that once provided solace and inspiration. As he prepared to say goodbye to the home, he realized that his early life’s drapes, wallpapers, and textiles held a significant place in his creative mind—a visual language that still influenced his work.
Determined not to let these pieces of his past slip away, Hirsch collected the fabrics from his childhood and repurposed them as the foundation for his Evan Hirsch SS25 collection. Patterns from his sister’s bedroom windows were transformed into a strapless mini-dress with a bow at the waist, while his mother’s kitchen curtains became a chic two-piece day ensemble. Even the pillows from his grandmother’s home were reimagined into a stunning ball gown, proving that in Hirsch’s creative world, nothing is off-limits.
Designing with Heart and Heritage
“When my parents put my childhood home up for sale in June of this year, I was heartbroken,” Hirsch shared. “Sorting through my possessions and mementos was difficult, but watching the unique details of my home being stripped away was even harder. That’s when I decided to honor my past in the best way I knew how—through my designs.”
Hirsch’s connection to his materials brought an emotional depth to the collection, with each piece serving as a tribute to the memories that shaped him.
A Dazzling Collaboration with MiaDonna
Hirsch’s sentimental designs were not the only showstoppers this season. Partnering with MiaDonna, The Eco Diamond Company, Hirsch showcased a breathtaking 21.06-carat emerald-cut diamond on several of his ensembles. Measuring nearly 19mm x 13mm x 9mm, the dazzling gem left the audience in awe and perfectly complemented the nostalgic elegance of Hirsch’s designs.
