The World After Us: LGNC Fall/Winter 24 Collection
Parisian brand LGNC has debuted their highly coveted Fall/Winter 2024 collection, “THE WORLD AFTER US,” which serves as a dynamic confluence between innovation and contemporary artistry. In keeping with their previous work, the collection seamlessly maintained the essence of the brand in which to “mix a little bit of past and a bit of future and make it timeless.”
A thematic continuation of past seasons, this collection serves as the catalyst to the designers’ objective of consistency in their storytelling while implementing the driving forces behind their vision. There is an evident dialogue between the brand’s motto “STREETCARE” as well as their trademark retro futurism, which was conveyed through exquisite craftsmanship, technique, and meticulous execution.
“The World After Us” showcases the versatility which encompasses womenswear and the female form in general, including pieces which range from relaxed, oversized fits to skin-tight, body-hugging silhouettes. Each piece and garment flirts with the concept of a silhouette in the form of an asymmetrical, innovative cut or neckline. The inclusion of cutouts and slits seeks to encourage one to feel comfortable in showing of the skin – while simultaneously adhering to the brand avowal “you will find the perfect wardrobe to heal.”
Nowhere is this showcased better upon implementing a plethora of second skin textiles, such as leather, pony hair trimming, lace, and other stretch fabrics. Each look idiosyncratically proves true style knows no boundaries, most notably seen in the “no pants” looks and the sultry idioms of sheerness. Influences derived from the late 90s and 2000s, such as the necktie, were prominent yet worked cohesively with the grommet detailing and primarily silver accessories.
What’s most intriguing about this collection is the manner in which each piece stands on its own, as opposed to one standout piece at the forefront. From a co-ord set to a mini skirt to a dress, the sheer experimentation and willingness to push the envelope demonstrates a commitment to consistency so few can achieve.
