The Asia Fashion Collection Takes On NYFW
The 2024 Asia Fashion Collection took to the runway at New York Fashion Week and these brands did not disappoint!
On February 10, the AFC debuted its new designs, showcasing women’s and menswear. According to a press release, the AFC aims to discover and encourage up-and-coming Asian designers in the fashion industry.
With all brands and designers being from Asian countries, five different brands collaborated on this show. Saturday’s event featured brands from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, including Sun Below, RE RHEE, KIYOKA HASE, MIARI SHIGETA, and YAXIN ZONE, according to a press release.
The AFC works with young designers as they compete against one another across East Asia for a chance to make their global debut.
At NYFW24, the event highlighted collections by those who succeeded in winning the Tokyo preliminary competition, according to a press release. This process allows the AFC to bridge the gap across continents and nurture emerging fashion talents.
The show was a great success and brought forth a unique and innovative style to the runway. From the intricate designs and bright colors used in the MIARI SHIGETA collection to the neutral tones and classic silhouettes by Sun Below, AFC’s new designers made their mark in the Big Apple.
The models were styled to perfection on the runway in the featured designs with the help of several dedicated professionals. According to a press release, makeup was done by Michelle Webb for Augment, casting by Eric Cano, hair styled by Aubrey Loots Hair for Wella Professionals, and the incredible show was produced by KuRoKo Inc.
