JUANA MARTIN SS23 Couture Show
Juana Martin presents the Spring Summer 2023 couture collection “Orígenes,” the only Spanish brand on the Paris Haute Couture calendar.
Martin’s summers in Málaga have become a source of creativity for her work. She returns to the city to honor its people, beaches, and land through her clothing, serving as a nod to her Flamenco roots.
According to the designer, the collection is made for women who wish to be elegant, transgressive, and daring,
Emerging from a cathedral stairway framed with greenery, models step onto the runway in polka dots, sequins, as well as beachy patterns. The designer reflects on her early work with textiles; where the polka dot dresses may be a reference to a similar design from SS20.

The designer also references flowers throughout the collection, with florals, and foliage springing off of dresses, tops, and blazers that resemble the vegetation in Málaga.
Some of Martin’s designs are bird-like, perhaps a representation of the colorful birds known to Málaga. The material is outspread down the length of the arms to resemble a wingspan going across the back.
Also on display were shoes by Christian Louboutin, Nadia Chellaoui bags, and Plata Pura goldsmith work. Martin provides a “beautiful gathering between renowned designers and her vision of design.”
