NYFW: The Shows at Spring Studios to Require Full Vaccinations In Order To Attend Shows

All attendees at this September’s New York Fashion Week: (NYFW) The Shows at Spring Studios will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

The announcement came Monday from the International Management Group (IMG), which stated that individuals must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entering Spring Studios for NYFW.

Numerous members of the industry received the initial memo from IMG, including contractors, vendors, and sponsors, in addition to PR teams, designers, and producers.

These individuals will be required to ensure staff and invited guests, including models, hairstylists, photographers, and makeup artists, know about and follow the policy.

More information is expected regarding vaccine recommendations for all venue locations. IMG also expects to follow up on protocol for approving vaccination status.

The forthcoming communication from IMG will include a health and safety plan, created in collaboration with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). The CFDA organizes the official NYFW calendar yearly.

IMG noted that the last day to receive the first dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines is Aug. 2. Attendees are expected to be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to fashion week, which starts Sept 8. Those receiving Johnson & Johnson vaccines must get the shot on or before Aug. 25.

Any changes due to the Delta variant remain unclear for NYFW. IMG will continue to conduct daily reviews with health and safety experts in conjunction with New York City and New York State. They plan to implement additional measures to protect individuals from the virus if need be.

National and State Vaccination Recommendations

This morning New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that starting in September, proof of vaccination will be required to enter indoor venues, including gyms, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants.

With the highly contagious Delta variant wreaking havoc across the nation, states are scrambling to incentivize vaccinations. The CDC recommended in July that those in areas with high rates of COVID should wear face coverings, even if they are fully vaccinated.

Those who remain unvaccinated account for roughly 97 percent of COVID-19 hospitalizations. The Delta variant is shown causing 83 percent of new cases of the virus.

Vaccine hesitation across the country has sown discord among politicians, companies, and individuals alike. The nation remains at about 50 percent vaccination status. Any pushback from unvaccinated NYFW attendees remains unclear.
