MRZ Presents “Lab Story” at Milan Fashion Week
MRZ made its mark on Milan Fashion Week with the debut of its Fall & Winter 2024-2025 collection.
“Lab Story,” the new collection, was widely influenced by a famous, Dutch designer, Sabine Marcelis. According to a press release, the collection showcases designs that are rooted in the present but look toward the future of fashion.
Established in 2012, MRZ is an Italian brand, recognized by “Vogue Talents” as one of the best in the country. MRZ partnered with Tomorrow Ltd. in 2016, which helped spread their products to boutiques and select stores all over the world, according to their brand profile.
The Marcelis influence allows MRZ to achieve a contemporary aesthetic with a balance of a variety of visual contrasts such as geometric shapes, color palette experimentation, and manipulation of unique materials, according to a press release. Each look is designed for the independent woman, as the brand goal is to illuminate the woman in a “place of creation and craftsmanship where she seeks new forms of expression,” according to MRZ.
As for specifics, “Lab Story” incorporates popular styles, patterns, and materials, but is spearheaded by knitwear. The collection strays from the classic techniques to contrast the ideals of contemporary femininity. According to a press release, it uses new knit stitches, original inlays, elaborate jacquards, bold treatments, and prints to create irregular, three-dimensional textures in womenswear.
This new collection has an incredible, tonal variety, from neutrals like ivory and light gray to vibrant colors like coral/orange and hints of pastels like pink and blue. And, along with the exquisite color scheme, there are many different styles for both everyday and eveningwear, that can be alternated through the fall and winter seasons. Whether it’s a tweed pantsuit, or a sweet sweater dress, “Lab Story” has a look for every occasion.
Each piece in the collection is characterized down to the very last detail. This can be seen in the new collection with decorative touches like the zippers, as MRZ designs combine femininity with a sportswear aesthetic. According to a press release, “MRZ provides the essential in an ever-changing mix of colors, shapes, and manufacturing,” as an overarching vision for this collection.
