MARKGONG Fall/Winter 2023 Collection
Shanghai Fashion Week made its first physical return since the pandemic, inviting a new collection from emerging designer Mark Gong.
The Fall/Winter 2023 collection “OUTLAW ROSES” is elegant and edgy, with black leather vests, leopard prints, polka dots, straps, distressed denim, and furs. Models strut fiercely down a rose-red runway contrasted with monochromatic clothing. Unique to this collection are metallic tops made from 3D printing, with knots tied in the front like bows.
About The Designer
Chinese designer Mark Gong established his brand in 2015 while attending the Parsons School of Design. Before his move to New York City, Gong lived with his family in a small town in California called Los Olivos. Here, he attended high school as an international student, being the only one to finish all four years. He lived in a small cabin that had no central air or heating, with bears and foxes roaming about, he tells Flaunt. His upbringing plays a large role in his design process. For example, the Spring/Summer 2020 collection takes direct inspiration from nature, with the designer transforming camping attire into chic, sexy garments.
Most recently, Gong’s was featured on the cover of Vogue. A model poses in a white sequined polka-dot halter dress from Fall/Winter 2023.
Currently, there are 13 pieces by MARKGONG available for purchase on madeinchina.com This includes three pairs of “hollow” jeans, with precise tailoring featuring diamond-shaped slits at the knee. The brand also incorporates the same design into a pair of denim shorts. Also offered are two sporty ball caps in black or denim blue with “Markgong” embroidered across the front. Any of these street-style garments pair well with the black “Tribeca Mini Hand Bag” made from cowhide for added elegance.
Additionally, the designer has a Shopify page currently in the works. Buyers can subscribe for updates by signing up for the mailing list.
