KIM SHUI SPRING/SUMMER 2025 RUNWAY SHOW
On Saturday, September 7th, Kim Shui showcased her Spring/Summer 2025 collection at 50 Hudson Yards consisting of 34 looks.
Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi and visual artist/ ex-football player Matthew Barney’s terracotta sculptures, the S/S25 collection explores the qualities of strength, elasticity, and fragility through materiality and form while celebrating the transformative power of resilience and unity, in which she subtly debuted the brand’s first-ever menswear pieces.
Blue and white porcelain-like fabric fragments are pieced together with white lace to create visual representations of rebuilding and renewed beauty, metaphorically referencing Kintsugi, the art of repairing broken pottery with gold resin.

Earthy prints and fleshy textures, influenced by Joan Fontcuberta’s Kintsugi book, further illustrate scars as a form of resilience, celebrating the mending journey from brokenness to wholeness and the strength that emerges from this transformation.
Meanwhile, the collection’s structural elements are inspired by Barney’s sculptures of athletic equipment made of terracotta. Detailing and floral motifs that commonly appear on oriental ceramics are brought to life with the use of molded and electroplated materials. These pieces explore the boundaries of physicality, capturing the intricate balance between elasticity, strength, and fragility.
Shui once again partnered with Nike, who showcased the unstoppable self-expression of women athletes, (one being Jordan Chiles who closed the runway) — past, present and future — who continue to represent the dynamic intersection of sport and style.

The collection tells a story of strength forged through adversity, portraying the KS woman as a symbol of transformation and adaptability.
