Inside Loverboy’s AEOLIAN Afternoon SS27 world

LONDON, UK, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY has officially unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, AEOLIAN AFTERNOON, a surreal and deeply imaginative digital presentation that blurs the boundaries between fashion, media, and contemporary life.

Presented as a series of uncanny daytime television segments hosted by the eccentric LOVERBOY creatures Grom and Lin, AEOLIAN AFTERNOON transports viewers into a soft-apocalyptic world where entertainment, commerce, and survival are impossibly intertwined. The collection centers around the OGB, or the Ominous Growing Brick, a looming symbol representing algorithms, consumer culture, and society’s endless demand for attention.

Building upon themes introduced in the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, Charles Jeffrey continues his exploration of the tension between analogue craftsmanship and digital fatigue. The SS27 offering celebrates physical making and artistic expression through drawing, collage, and DIY experimentation.

At the heart of the collection is LOVERBOY’s signature gender-fluid approach, reimagined through what the designer describes as “allergic tailoring.” Familiar silhouettes are twisted and distorted into entirely new forms. The collection introduces handcrafted embellishments, floral artisanal beanies, and the return of the brand’s beloved animal-inspired bags, offering moments of warmth and whimsy within an unstable landscape.

Military and vintage-inspired garments are elevated through rips, paint splatters, and chemical treatments, while a Renaissance-inspired color palette, derived from fruits and vegetables, brings an organic vibrancy to the collection. Denim appears weathered and worn, deconstructed footwear feels lovingly reconstructed by hand, and knitted details embrace imperfection, embodying the rebellious spirit of youthful creativity.

The collection’s maximalist styling, led by Jeffrey himself, serves as a form of protest,an invitation to embrace imperfection and self-expression. In the world of AEOLIAN AFTERNOON, messiness becomes a creative act and individuality is celebrated.

Music also plays an essential role in the project. Named after the Aeolian minor scale, the collection is accompanied by a new single produced by Tom Furse and Robert Fox. Inspired by the continuous nature of television broadcasts and the compositions of minimalist composer Terry Riley, the soundtrack drifts through the collection’s accompanying film like a distant, fuzzy transmission.

More than a collection presentation, AEOLIAN AFTERNOON serves as a statement of intent for Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s future, a digital-first, DIY vision that approaches youth culture through the lens of couture and artistic experimentation.

As the brand enters its eighth year, Charles Jeffrey continues to build a fashion universe rooted in queerness, community, and radical self-expression. From its beginnings in an East London bedroom to becoming an international fashion force stocked in over 90 stores worldwide, LOVERBOY remains committed to creating clothing that can be worn by anyone, in any imaginable way.

The full transmission of AEOLIAN AFTERNOON is set to continue in January 2027, promising yet another chapter in the ever-expanding world of Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY.
